Sap emerges from the cracks of decaying concrete.

Often regarded as the blood of trees, sap symbolizes the circulation of life itself.

Flowing from architectural forms, it dissolves the boundary between nature and the artificial.

In doing so, it points to the possibility that the two are not opposing entities, but part of the same continuum.

The root of a discarded Christmas tree found on the streets of Manhattan, juxtaposed with a staircase leading to a Japanese shrine.

Wrapped in plastic film, the root appears simultaneously preserved and restrained.

By bringing together a landscape where reverence for life and human intervention coexist, this work reflects on the complex relationship between people and nature.
